Adventures into knitting

So as of December 16th I have been able to knit thanks too my Grandma patiently teaching me.  It's been a long term dream of mine to own the full size Tom Baker Dr. Who scarf.  So I thought I'd update my blog (finally) with my progress.  This is a small normal size scarf as its cheaper to complete then the full size scarf which will probably end up around 15 feet long!.

This photograph was taken the after about 4 hours of knitting.  I find that if I'm watching something I can rocket threw rows like nobody's business but if I'm just sat knitting a row seems like an hours work.  I decided to start (finally) watching Sherlock, which is great! but also awesome for knitting too.  Other knitting favourites of mine are Supernatural, Dexter, CSI, Game of Thrones & Mythbusters.

After completing my Dr who scarf I have a few other geeky projects queued up including a number of video game related jumpers, Jayne's hat from firefly and a number of Hogwart's house scarves for my sister and parents.

After about 7 hours work
So knitting has quickly become one of my favourite past times, and hopefully a skill I will master quickly as I want an Aliens jumper and I'm more then a little impatient.

Little Bears Brewery

So recently I've been working on a custom print, well more of a parody print really.  The prints original is Little Bears Cafe by Angelic Pretty,  While it is very cute a few of the girls in my local comm came up with an anti version of the print.  I found the idea so amusing I decided to draw it.

So I have now completed the print and have order the ivory version to check for print errors.  I will be wearing the skirt for Hyper Japan in November, I'm excited but a bit worried I hope it doesn't offend any of the die hard lolita fashionistas.

Friday night crafting!

Over the last week I have been crafting and sewing like mad, which is a nice surprise as I have felt very demotivated to create anything for a while now.  I have a number of projects on the go as usual and hopefully I will have my outfit ready for my next lolita meet which is on the 28th.
(A progress photo of my skirt)

I have also been badly bitten by the cosplay bug recently which is good for my mood but bad for both my free time and wallet!  The main problem is that I have to many characters which I want to cosplay as but no real opportunity to wear them.  While I do hope to go to Hyper Japan this November I will most probably wearing lolita.

So here are a few of the characters I hope to cosplay as soon (unfortunately this is not the complete list)

1. Beatrice (Umineko no naku koro ni)

The first thing that attracted me to Beatrice's costume (and the main reason why I want to make this costume) is the extreme detail in the dress from the bell sleeves to the embellishments on the skirt.  I have a really weakness for over the top ruffley decadent dresses (a weakness which thrives in my lolita wardrobe/wishlist).  Second reason I would like to cosplay as Beatrice is she is definitely one of my favourite characters from the series, she has a very interesting personality.

2. Cydaea (Diablo 3)
Well I cannot think of any reasons why I would not want to cosplay as Cydaea, a Massive ruffley dress overloaded with lots of detail, creepy imagery and well it being a video game character.  I love video games a lot and while I haven't really delved to much in to the Diablo franchise up until now I'm certainly enjoying what I'm seeing.  This costume has been a popular discussion subject between me and one of my house-mates as he is a joiner and theatrical prop/set maker by trade and has agreed to help me with the legs and chain frame work.

3. Ochibana Ame (Denpa teki na Kanojo)
Well this costume would be a lazy chilling cosplay which I would change into rather then 2 all out over the top costumes at a convention, and lets face it you need at least one sailor uniform in your wardrobe lol.  I have a big soft spot for Ame, her personality is definitely odd but I find her loyalty towards Jun very endearing.  The only real problem I can see with this costume is the fringe of the wig would get very annoying after a while.

 4. Scarecrow (Batman Arkham Asylum)
I love scarecrow other then the Joker he has been my favourite member of Batman's rogues gallery since I discovered Batman in the early 90s.  The main reasons for choosing this design are the detail the developers went into creating him and making him bloody creepy, Its one of the best incarnations of J.C. and the design for the mask is gorgeous!.  I will have to adapt this costume since he's topless and I obviously can't do that lol.  Scarecrow will be my second Batman villain cosplay to make as I am just completing my fem version of the Joker.  I hope to do more of the rogues gallery at a later date.

5. Ichigo (Katamari Damacy)
Ichigo has always been my favourite of the cousins and it will be fun to run around dressed like an alien for a while.
